Continuously developing her own voice, Frédérique founded in 1998 Frédérique’s Trio (piano & vocals, bass and drums) to present a completely new blend of Jazz standards and French songs. “A charismatic and adventurous performer, Frédérique succeeds in creating a beautiful mélange from her highly diverse musical passions, mainly classical, jazz, salsa, Arabic music and French chansons.” (Concerto Magazine, 2000) Combining a delicate pianistic touch and high-energy improvisations in original arrangements, she invents a “third way” between two established genres, capturing the essential elements of both. “Thanks to her beautifully rich voice and her energetic, yet lyrical, piano playing, she lends a distinctly personal and emotional touch to her material” (Concerto Magazine, 2000). She completed her first trio album “Secret Love” in December 1999.
Performing every week at Madame X for four years, the group had the opportunity to welcome diverse guests musicians as Frédérique likes to explore new combinations: with trumpet (Tim Ouimette who also appears on both CDs), trombone, violin, saxophone, clarinet and bass clarinet. She then continued these musical encounters every sunday at Seppi’s during the next four years (2002-2006)
Parallel to her New York Jazz trio, Frédérique has developped a trio in Paris where she performs regularly too. She combined the two experiences in a second trio CD called Paris – New York…and Elsewhere featuring musicians from both cities.
PARIS: Antoine Massoni (bass) & Thierry Tardieu (drums) and NEW YORK: Thomas Bramerie (bass) and Drori Mondlak (drums). The CD was released in New York in March 2006 and in Paris in May 2006, just before she moved …. “elsewhere” to Barcelona, Spain.
